  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, blood samples, and processing pathology and cytology samples.
  • Research test/client information, confirm, and verify all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems or directories of services.
  • Complete all data entry requirements accurately, including patient registration and test orders from requisitions.
  • Enter billing information and collect payments when required, safeguarding assets and credit card information.
  • Process specimens: labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required by the test order.
  • Work in iLabs for assigned accounts daily to ensure accurate billing data.
  • Provide CIR and PPE Resolution reports to the Director as scheduled.
  • Perform clerical duties such as data entry, inventory management, stocking supplies, and answering phones as needed.
  • Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures, ensuring staff adherence.
  • Verify patient demographic info and initials, including patient signature post-venipuncture, to ensure proper labeling and identification.
  • Assist with compiling and submitting monthly statistics and data.
  • Maintain phlebotomy logs, including maintenance and temperature logs, in a timely manner.
  • Complete and stay updated with training courses on phlebotomy techniques.
  • Travel to off-site Territory Manager meetings or outside normal shifts as required.
  • Participate in special projects and teams.
  • Stay informed on company communications.

Job Requirements

  • Provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Exhibit excellent pediatric and geriatric phlebotomy skills.
  • Be flexible and available for staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
  • Adhere to MAKO policies, including dress code, safety, and core principles.
  • Have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if applicable.
  • Demonstrate superior customer focus, transparent communication, adaptability, and knowledge of the business.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift objects weighing 1-15 pounds frequently; 16-25 pounds occasionally; 26-40 pounds rarely; over 41 pounds with assistance.
  • Sit or stand for long periods; perform long hours of eye and hand coordination.
  • Perform repetitive hand tasks frequently.
  • Travel as required.
  • Use phone and PC extensively.
  • Require fine hand dexterity and steadiness.
  • Push, pull, reach, and twist as needed.

Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical training preferred: medical assistant or paramedic.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience

  • One year of phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience in retail or service environments preferred.
