Job summary

Bridgeport Hospital, part of Yale New Haven Health, seeks an experienced nurse leader to oversee unit operations and ensure patient care aligns with the organization's philosophy and goals.

The Nurse Manager (NM) holds 24-hour responsibility for satisfaction of patients, physicians, and staff, with fiscal stewardship. Requires BSN, 3–5 years of leadership experience, CT license, and BCLS certification or compliance within one month of hire.

Qualifications

• BSN degree required; Masters preferred.
• 3–5 years leadership experience.
• Licensed and a currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut; BCLS certification or within one month of hire.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to interpret data and manage priorities.
• Ability to implement and support change; handle multiple priorities and ongoing education.

Responsibilities

• Direct and organize unit/service operations to align patient care with the institution's goals.
• 25/7 (24-hour) accountability for patient, physician, and staff satisfaction with sound fiscal management.
• Lead quality improvement efforts to enhance patient outcomes and service excellence.
• Serve as a role model with strong human-relations skills and staff development.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

BSN required, Masters preferred.

EXPERIENCE

3 to 5 years leadership experience.

LICENSURE

Licensed and a currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut. All newly hired Registered Nurses must have a current BCLS certification or obtain within one month of hire.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, Good analytical ability to interpret data. Demonstrated ability to implement and support change. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities. Evidence of successful completion of courses on an annual basis.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Requires prolonged standing; walking; use of sight, hearing and touch; moving/lifting patients of varying wieghts.

Additional Information

The PSM would have managerial responsibilities over Cath/EP, Pre/Post suite, and Cardiac testing. Experience in the Cath/EP lab or a pre/post area strongly preferred.
