Qualifications

• 1+ year of professional work experience required (Level 1).
• No license/certification required.
• 3+ years of customer service experience required, including at least 6 months in a clinical environment (Level 2).

Responsibilities

• Schedules patient appointments by phone or in person.
• Provides information about clinic operations.
• Obtains patient demographics for new and existing patients.
• Answers telephone calls and distributes to appropriate staff.
• Coordinates schedules for patients needing multiple services.
• Greets patients at the clinic for scheduled appointments.
• Accepts payments and issues receipts.
• Ensures encounter forms are complete and signatures are present.
• Copies insurance cards and uploads to EMR.
• Balances and closes cash drawer daily.
• Prepares ancillary forms for other services (e.g., x-rays).
• Promotes the Patient Portal for patient-clinic communication.
• Pulls charts for appointments or for filing lab/hospital information.
• Copies medical records for patients or other providers.
• Creates new patient charts and packets of information.
• Discusses financial accounts with patients.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and PCPs for patients.
• Secures referrals for HMO patients and coordinates care.
• Assists with sliding scale discounts after income verification.
• Monitors WQs in EMR for referrals.
