Summary
  • The Patient Services Coordinator (PSC) assists the manager and/or physicians in maintaining a patient/customer focus, supports high-quality care, and helps meet patient satisfaction and operational targets. Duties include patient check-in/out, registration, scheduling, referrals/pre-authorizations, overseeing daily schedules, and serving as the liaison between staff and management. In the absence of the manager, the PSC may assume additional responsibilities.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations (e.g., TJC, DOH, FDA, HIPAA)
  • Manage daily operations, schedules, staffing, and performance metrics
  • Communicate changes effectively
  • Develop and maintain scheduling templates and oversee quality assurance
  • Monitor financial reports and reconcile accounts
  • Resolve work queue issues and recover missing charges
  • Generate reports to monitor performance and assist in reviews
  • Act as communication link within the team and with management
  • Support practice policies, resolve patient issues, and participate in hiring/training
  • Perform surgery scheduling as needed
  • Provide administrative support to physicians or managers
  • Assist with patient service activities such as appointment scheduling, check-out procedures, and insurance verifications
  • Manage patient flow, wait times, and service recovery
  • Order supplies and generate reports
  • Coordinate clinical and administrative aspects of new patient scheduling (if applicable)
  • Handle call center duties and troubleshoot issues
Education or Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED (Required)
  • At least 3 years of medical office experience; advanced degrees may substitute experience.
