Job summary

UAB Medicine in Birmingham, AL is seeking a patient services coordinator to support clinic operations, including scheduling patients, answering calls, and entering demographics and insurance data into IDX. You will obtain authorizations, schedule surgical cases, and assist with copays in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and 2 years of clerical experience; CPC certification is preferred and CPR must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years office/clerical experience in customer service, call center, physician office or clinical environment.
• Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills; excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Must attend required coursework; have basic knowledge of medical terminology and PC applications; able to perform math & bookkeeping; strong telephone skills; English grammar knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and add-on patients to the clinic.
• Answer telephones and route calls.
• Enter demographics and insurance data into IDX.
• Obtain insurance authorizations and referrals.
• Schedule surgical cases.
