Hunt Regional Healthcare in Greenville, TX, seeks a patient service assistant to deliver and collect meal trays and menus to and from patients' rooms, supporting nutrition needs and patient satisfaction.

You will work with a multi-disciplinary health care team, maintain food safety, document intake, and follow hospital policies, HIPAA, and codes. A High School diploma or GED is preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY

Deliver and collect meal trays and menu to and from patients' rooms. Promote patient satisfaction by applying the hospital policy of service excellence. Functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary health care team to meet patients' nutritional needs. Be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the physical, psycho/social, education, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patient served in assigned department.
The skills and knowledge to provide such care is gained through education, training and/or experience.

Minimum Work Experience: Prior health care and food service. Experience in hospital setting is helpful.
Required Licenses/Certifications: None

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Able to communicate and respond using the English language. Possess excellent communication, customer relation and interpersonal relation skills. Able to present a pleasant, caring attitude toward all customers.

Preferred Qualification: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
  1. Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan.
  2. Conduct reflects HMHD's values and a commitment to HMHD's Code of Conduct.
  3. Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs.
  4. Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program.
  5. Complies with all HIPAA standards.
  6. Adhere to job schedule for position and daily cleaning schedule.
  7. Communicate patient food preferences and pertinent information to diet office.
  8. Assist patient in adjusting bed and tray table to prepare for meal service.
  9. Delivers and retrieves patient meal trays.
  10. Knows and follows food safety techniques to prevent food contamination.
  11. Make meal rounds on assigned floor to insure patient satisfaction. Correct meal problems quickly.
  12. Record Intake and I & O sheet after each meal or snack.
  13. Prepares snacks.
  14. Deliver nourishment and between snacks to patients. Deliver snack cart after dinner meal.
  15. Check patient pantry and refrigerators for adequate stock, labeled and dated items, cleanliness, and recorded temperature. Correct any deficiency immediately.
  16. Assist with preparation of late trays. Delivers late trays.
  17. Collect patient satisfaction surveys.
  18. Works in dish room.
  19. Keeps patient information confidential and respects patient's rights.
  20. Aware of responsibilities during codes and disaster drills.
  21. Review patient satisfaction results and take corrective action to eliminate deficiencies.
  22. Knows and utilizes universal precautions at all times. Observes hospital isolation techniques.
  23. Demonstrates knowledge of hospital restraint policy and protocols.
  24. Strives consistently to promptly meet patient's nutritional needs as per approved performance skills.
  25. Attends department meetings and in-service programs as required.
  26. Attends diet classes for continuing education on diets and restrictions.
  27. Performs other duties as assigned at the discretion of director.
