Location: Putnam, CT

Shift: Day Shift, 40 Hours

Patient Service Representative Job Summary

This multi-tasking position involves all front-end functions, including customer service, telephone management, scheduling, registration, copay collections, account management at the time of service, coding review, charge entry, and end-of-day procedures. The PSR will ensure provider schedules are properly populated, telephones are responded to promptly, and registration information is accurately captured during each patient visit.

  • Collaborate with patients, physicians, staff, and management to ensure patient satisfaction and accurate processing of front-end functions.
  • Verify patient demographics and insurance information prior to visits for all pre-scheduled patients.
  • Register patients at each visit, capturing complete and current patient and insurance information, and document patient responsible payments, including co-pays and past balances.
  • Check out patients according to established policies, including charge entry, scheduling future appointments, facilitating ancillary procedures, and providing receipts.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma required; college courses preferred.

Experience:

  • Experience with medical procedural coding (CPT/ICD9).
  • At least 4 years of relevant front-desk and customer service experience, preferably in healthcare.
  • Proficiency in cash handling and typing at least 40 WPM.
  • Experience with patient or customer information systems.
