Location: Putnam, CT

Shift: Day Shift, 40 Hours

Job Summary

This multi-tasking position involves all front-end functions, including customer service, telephone management, scheduling, registration, copay collections, time-of-service account management, coding review, charge entry, and end-of-day procedures. The PSR will ensure provider schedules are properly populated, telephones are answered per protocols, and registration information is complete prior to or during patient visits.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with patients, physicians, staff, and management to ensure patient satisfaction and accurate front-end processing.
  • Verifying patient demographics and insurance information before scheduled visits.
  • Registering patients at each visit, capturing complete patient and insurance details, and documenting payments such as co-pays and balances.
  • Checking out patients by entering charges, scheduling future appointments, facilitating procedures, and providing receipts.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; college courses preferred.

Experience:

  • Competency in medical procedural coding (CPT/ICD9).
  • At least 4 years of relevant front-desk and customer service experience, preferably in healthcare.
  • Proficiency in cash handling and typing at minimum 40 WPM.
  • Experience with patient or customer information systems.
