For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering a $3,000 sign-on payment for Patient Service Representatives!

Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a full or part-time Patient Service Representative position. Bonus amount is prorated for part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth employees are ineligible; former employees are ineligible until more than 6 months of separation from employment.

Summary:

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) greets patients, answers telephones, schedules appointments, and performs general office duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet all patients politely, promptly, and helpfully.
  • Schedule, reschedule, confirm, and cancel patient appointments.
  • Update patient demographic and insurance information at check-in and provide necessary forms for completion.
  • Answer phones pleasantly and assist callers directly when possible.
  • Screen calls, document detailed messages, and escalate to the appropriate individual promptly.
  • Collect co-pays/patient balances, review encounter forms for accuracy, obtain signatures, and schedule follow-up appointments when needed.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Driver’s license may be required.
  • Experience: Medical office and customer service experience preferred.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements: None specified.
