Join to apply for the Patient Service Representative I - Full-Time, 2nd Shift role at Tufts Medicine

Hours: 32 hours per week; Tuesday through Thursday from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

Location: Onsite at Lowell General Hospital Main Campus.

Requirements: 1 week of full-time training/orientation during the day shift (Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM). An additional 2 weeks of training can be scheduled during the day, evening, or weekends.

Job Profile Summary

This role involves revenue cycle activities such as billing, collections, and payment processing, along with Patient Access duties like collecting demographic and financial info, scheduling services, and managing referrals.

Job Overview

Responsible for interviewing patients, obtaining registration data, verifying insurance, and collecting patient liabilities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of experience in customer service, hospital registration, medical office, or insurance.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Pre-registration tasks including collecting demographic, financial, and clinical info, verifying insurance, and obtaining authorizations.
  • Explaining signature requirements and obtaining consent.
  • Verifying insurance coverage and eligibility.
  • Collecting auto and worker’s compensation info.
  • Informing patients of financial liabilities and collecting payments.
  • Posting payments and verifying accuracy.
  • Providing financial assistance info and documenting patient financial info.
  • Attaching verifications to patient accounts and documenting info.
  • Providing excellent customer service and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Meeting productivity and customer service benchmarks.
Physical Requirements
  • Sitting, standing, walking, lifting 10-15 pounds.
  • Reaching supply shelves and operating office equipment.
  • Manual dexterity and visual/auditory capabilities.
Skills & Abilities
  • Computer literacy, data entry, customer service skills.
  • Understanding of insurance programs and medical terminology.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
