Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Patient Service Representative to greet patients, verify information, and manage registrations with a focus on accurate data entry and courteous service.

The role involves collecting payments, scheduling visits, and supporting clinic operations across Immediate Care Clinics as needed. Healthcare experience and bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 0–2 years’ experience in a customer service position
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Healthcare experience and medical terminology knowledge preferred
• Bilingual abilities are a plus

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and guests, confirms identity and provides information
• Handles check-in/out functions as directed
• Updates patient identification and demographics and insurance information
• Completes patient registration and obtains consents/authorizations
• Collects co-payments and posts payments; processes end-of-day cash
• Keeps waiting area clean and comfortable and informs patients of delays
• Schedules appointments as needed; floats to other ICCs/departments if applicable
• Performs other duties as assigned

The salary range for this position is $18.64 - $26.10 (Hourly Rate)

Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

The Patient Service Representative reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheresto the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies,procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with patients and guests including greeting them upon arrival, confirming identity andproviding necessary information related to their visit.
• Completes check-in/out functions as directed.
• Confirms and updates patient identification and demographic/insurance information.
• Completes patient registration as needed.
• Obtains patient consents/authorizations.
• Collects co-payments, past due balances and point of service payments.
• Posts payments, process billing information and perform “end of day” cash drawer closing.
• Keeps waiting area clean and comfortable.
• Informs patients of any delays or changes in appointment status.
• Schedules appointments as necessary.
• For PSRs in the Immediate Care Clinics (ICC), float to other ICCs/departments.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Zero (0) to two (2) years’ experience in a customer service position.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Bilingual.
