Job summary

GI Associates is seeking a Patient Service Representative to support physicians and patients across southeast Wisconsin. The role involves EMR/EPIC use, patient scheduling, education, and coordinating labs and procedures while maintaining confidentiality in a fast-paced GI practice.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, CMA certification preferred, and strong communication skills. The position may require travel to other GI locations to support operations.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • CMA certification preferred
  • BLS/CPR certification – training available once hired
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, family members, physicians, co-workers, and outside customers
  • Willingness and ability to travel to other GI Associates locations as needed

Responsibilities

  • Prepares EMR for office hours and procedures as needed
  • Rooms patients and obtains vital signs, chief complaints, updates medication list
  • Schedules labs, endoscopy procedures, x-rays, or ancillary appointments
  • Conducts patient education with handouts
  • Maintains confidentiality and a clean workstation
  • Notifies pre-certification department of scheduled procedures
  • Answers and follows up on patient phone calls in a timely fashion
  • Assists with patient walk-ins as needed
  • Assists with office procedures when needed

Our position maintains and manages our GI Practice’s in a strong team environment and offers the highest quality of care to both patients, family members, and community. Our patient service representative position is an integral part of the foundation at GI Associates with patients and family members looking to you for their choice of the highest quality care in GI.Position Responsibilities:Prepares EMR for office hours and procedures as neededRooms patients and obtains vital signs, chief complaints, updates medication list, and obtains/processes patient photo when neededAppropriately schedules necessary labs, Endoscopy procedures, x-rays, or any other ancillary/appointments for patients considering proper insurance coverage per locationConducts patient education (i.e., Handouts, etc.)Travels to off-site locationsUtilizes PMS, EMR, EPIC appropriately and efficientlyMaintains a high level of confidentialityMaintains clean and organized workstation and nurses' station during/at completion of office hoursWorks collaboratively with physician/mid-level, physician practice representative (PPR) to optimize patient careDocuments patient care accurately, in the proper location in the EMR, and in a timely fashion.Notifies pre-certification department of scheduled proceduresAnswers and follows up on patient phone calls in a timely fashionMaintains medication closets by stocking medications in an organized and retrievable manner when neededAssists with Patient Walk-ins as neededAssist with CRH Hemorrhoidal banding procedure in the office as neededFacilitates harmonious work environment, whereby treating all co-workers with respect and dignityMaintains a safe work environmentAll other duties as assignedMinimum RequirementsHigh School diploma or equivalentPatient-care first approach with strong attention to detailCMA certification preferred, but not requiredStrong communication and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate effectively with patients, family members, physicians, co-workers, and outside customersBLS/CPR certification – training available once hiredPrevious Healthcare experience preferredPrevious gastroenterology experience preferred, but not requiredWillingness and ability to travel to other GI Associates locations as needed to support operational needsPhysical & Mental DemandsAble to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach and stoop throughout entire shift to accomplish tasksAble to push, pull, lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionallyAble to work through interruptions, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentFrequently uses a computer for typing and EMR documentation; requires accurate and efficient data entry abilitiesFrequently uses the telephone to contact patients for appointment scheduling, follow-up care, test results, and other clinical communicationsE04JI80004vh4099ork
