Job summary

TEKsystems seeks a Patient Services Representative in Los Angeles to be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, handling registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and HIPAA documentation to ensure a seamless patient experience.

The role requires managing front desk operations, collecting payments, and coordinating appointments across providers while maintaining accurate EMR records in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a medical front office, patient access, or healthcare administrative role.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience performing insurance eligibility and verification for commercial, federal, and state-sponsored health plans.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience using electronic medical records (EMR), patient registration systems, and scheduling software.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients and visitors in a professional, friendly, and compassionate manner.
  • Assist patients throughout the check-in and check-out process, ensuring a positive and efficient experience.
  • Address patient inquiries, concerns, and service requests promptly while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
  • Promote patient satisfaction initiatives and assist with patient feedback and survey participation.
  • Complete patient registration activities, including demographic updates, consent forms, HIPAA documentation, and insurance verification.
  • Verify insurance eligibility for federal, state, and commercial health plans at each patient encounter.
  • Confirm primary and secondary insurance coverage, update payer information, and maintain accurate insurance records.
  • Review insurance cards and government-issued identification to ensure accurate patient and coverage information.
  • Collect patient financial responsibilities, including co-payments, co-insurance, share-of-cost amounts, and self-pay balances.
  • Maintain accurate provider schedules, coordinating appointments for physicians, advanced practice providers, laboratory services, nursing visits, and other ancillary services.
  • Conduct appointment reminder calls, no-show outreach, and follow-up scheduling activities.
  • Answer and route incoming telephone calls professionally and efficiently.
  • Support electronic medical record (EMR) management by filing, retrieving, updating, and forwarding patient records as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to all HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Los Angeles, CA 90059.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
