Job Summary

Incumbents are responsible for aspects of Physician Practice front office management and operation as assigned. May be responsible for some or all front office functions as detailed below.

Job Description
Accountabilities
  1. Patient Registration and Billing: Responsible for complete and accurate patient registration, pre-certification, charge capture, and diagnosis coding. Posts payments, balances accounts, and enforces financial agreements. Manages billing processes, files insurance claims, and assists patients with forms. Handles unpaid accounts and collections. (20%)
  2. Patient Liaison and Front Office Support: Greets patients, verifies insurance, updates information, assists with ambulatory difficulties, manages appointment schedules, and provides phone support. Oversees waiting area, coordinates patient movement, and manages patient charts. (20%)
  3. Insurance and Pre-Certification Assistance: Assists patients with insurance questions, processes benefits, and follows up with insurance companies to ensure coverage and payment. Maintains records of patient accounts and insurance documentation. (20%)
  4. Outpatient Billing and Record Management: Gathers charge information, codes procedures, processes billing, manages patient charts, and maintains medical records according to policies. (20%)
  5. Payments and Collections: Collects payments, reviews accounts for timely payment, contacts patients for collections, and establishes payment plans. Participates in educational activities and maintains confidentiality. (20%)
