Job description

Summary
Performs both administrative and clinical functions to support smooth and efficient clinical service or practice operations under general supervision. Tasks are primarily routine and clerical, including scheduling, check-in, and check-out duties related to patient visits. Actual job duties may vary by Department.

Essential Functions
- Perform routine administrative and clerical duties related to a clinical service or physician practice.
- Make patient appointments and maintain appointment records.
- Greet and assist patients.
- Answer telephones, assist callers with inquiries, and schedule appointments.
- File materials in patient folders and print appointment schedules.
- Process patient billing forms and scan documents to medical records.
- Call for patient medical records and lab results.
- Manage mail and faxes.
- Type forms, records, schedules, memos, etc.
- Accept co-payments if required.
- Handle messages related to authorizations, provider questions, prescriptions, and test results.
- Act as 'Super User' for scheduling, registration, and billing systems and provide training.
- Perform specialized functions such as surgical scheduling at advanced competency levels.

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required
Experience can’t substitute for a degree.
Licenses and Credentials
Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) preferred.
Experience
2-3 years of office experience required.

- Proficiency with Office Suite and office procedures.
- Effective communication skills.
- Good time management and organization skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow protocols.
