Patient Service Associate - Duke Primary Care Sweetwater Apex, NC

Summary

Coordinate and participate in a variety of duties associated with daily clinic preparation, patient identification, check-in/out, charge posting, cash management, and appointment scheduling. The role also involves customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling, and referrals management.

Hours:

Monday-Friday, day shifts, 40 hours a week

Work Performed

  • Prepare for clinic visits by reviewing upcoming patients and completing necessary preparations.
  • Enter pre-visit orders and prepare patient charts.
  • Handle medical records, reports, and collections.
  • Check-in patients, verify and update demographic data, and manage alerts in Maestro Care.
  • Collect co-payments and balances, and explain billing procedures to patients.
  • Schedule tests, procedures, and follow-up appointments.
  • Answer phones, relay messages, and communicate with staff and patients effectively.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic PC and data entry skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and interact tactfully with customers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience in a customer service role, preferably in healthcare.
