Schedule: Full time and part time; days may vary, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm and 11:30 am to 7:30 pm. Weekend availability is required. More details upon interview.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for patient food service on assigned units, including menu selections, tray assembly, tray delivery and pick-up, special requests and needs, and in-between meal food delivery.
• Exhibits a friendly, caring attitude to patients when taking menu selections, delivering trays, and assisting during catering rounds.
• Takes patients' menu selections prior to each meal and ensures dietary restrictions are followed within the diet order guidelines.
• Offers alternatives to menu as allowed by prescribed diets, considering allergies, sensitivities, and cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences.
• Assembles trays according to patients’ menu selections on tray tickets accurately and timely.
• Interacts with nursing staff to ensure diet prescriptions and patient food needs are met.
• Retrieves trays from patients’ rooms and maintains accurate information for each patient on assigned units.
• Assists the dietitian with monitoring patients who are NPO, on liquid diets, or have calorie counts ordered.
• Communicates patient-related problems/concerns to appropriate personnel following departmental procedures.
• Adheres to facility confidentiality and patients’ rights policies as outlined in HIPAA guidelines.
• Contributes to patient satisfaction goals by providing quality service.
• Complies with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations; maintains a clean, sanitary working environment.
• Follows HACCP guidelines when assembling and distributing food to ensure quality and safety.
• Completes daily/weekly/monthly reports as outlined in corporate policies and procedures.
• Identifies and uses cleaning chemicals following manufacturer directions and MSDS sheets.
• Uses equipment according to department safety procedures; follows facility safety policies including incident reporting and infection control.
• Adheres to Hazardous Materials and Waste Program and participates in Emergency Preparedness and Life Safety drills as appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
