Job summary

Behavioral Health Group (BHG) in Bessemer, AL is seeking a Patient Security Monitor to help ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors while supporting our addiction treatment mission.

The role involves monitoring the facility, entrances, and perimeter, responding to disturbances, and documenting incidents. Schedule is 4:45 AM–11:00 AM, Monday–Friday, with pay between $17.00 and $20.00 per hour. No nights or Sundays; growth and benefits available.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of facilities maintenance or security experience.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the facility and exterior areas to protect patients, visitors, and staff.
• Oversee the dosing lobby until patients safely exit the building and maintain a calm environment.
• Respond to disturbances, investigate incidents, and notify leadership with accurate reports.
• Monitor security systems and equipment, reporting signs of tampering.

What You’ll Do

Ensure Safety and Respect

• Foster a secure and supportive environment by monitoring the facility, exterior entrances, parking areas, and perimeter to protect patients, visitors, and staff.


• Help ensure a calm and orderly treatment experience by overseeing the dosing lobby until all patients have safely exited the building.


• Respond to disturbances with professionalism. Investigate incidents, prepare accurate reports, and notify leadership when appropriate.


• Protect the integrity of our facility by monitoring security systems and equipment, reporting any signs of tampering.

Required Qualifications

• 1-2 years of facilities maintenance or security experience.


• Ability to work well individually and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2-3 years of customer service experience preferred.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

• Fast-paced clinical environment with period of increased activity.


• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.


• Exposure to patients with substance use disorders, mental health conditions, infectious diseases, and criminal justice involvement.


• Prolonged standing, bending, and stooping.


• Must be able to walk and survey the premises for long durations.


• Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.


• Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.


• Frequent keyboarding and computer use.
