Job summary

GetixHealth is hiring a Patient Scheduler to support scheduling operations, verify insurance, and communicate clearly with patients, providers, and staff. This remote role requires strong multitasking, organization, and a patient-focused approach to ensure timely appointments and accurate patient information.

The position reports to the Patient Support Center Supervisor and offers standard full-time hours with Monday–Friday schedules.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 6 months to 1 year of customer service or scheduling experience.
  • 6 months to 1 year of remote work experience preferred in high-volume environments.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and other computer systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients to schedule appointments by phone and electronic communication.
  • Collect, verify, and communicate insurance details during scheduling.
  • Educate patients on insurance verification and anticipated financial responsibility.
  • Confirm appointments and provide location details and special instructions.
  • Create and maintain patient records with demographics and required paperwork.
  • Coordinate with referring providers for records and visit prep details.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure efficient scheduling.
  • Respond to patient inquiries promptly by phone and written communication.
  • Support coordination with internal teams and third-party systems.
  • Assist insurance verification staff when needed.
  • Maintain HIPAA confidentiality at all times.

Location: Remote (Must pass an internet speed test/ we provide the equipment)


Reports to: Patient Support Center Supervisor


Compensation: $17 per hour


Operational Hours: The operating hours for this position are Monday to Friday: 8:00am to 4:30pm (Schedules are subject to change and based on the business need)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide day-to-day support for patient scheduling operations, ensuring timely appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and excellent communication between patients, providers, and medical staff.


You’ll serve as the first point of contact for patients by scheduling appointments, confirming visits, collecting insurance details, and helping patients understand their financial responsibility prior to care. Strong communication skills, multitasking ability, and attention to detail are essential.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients and external facilities to schedule appointments by phone and electronic correspondence

  • Collect, verify, and communicate benefit details of patient insurance policies during scheduling

  • Educate patients on the insurance verification process and estimated patient responsibility prior to their visit

  • Confirm patient appointments and provide appointment details, location information, and special instructions

  • Create and maintain patient records including demographic information and required paperwork

  • Contact referring provider offices to obtain necessary records and visit preparation details

  • Coordinate with healthcare providers and medical staff to ensure appointments are scheduled efficiently and effectively

  • Respond to patient inquiries professionally and in a timely manner via phone and written communication

  • Collaborate with internal teams and third-party systems to support coordinated patient care

  • Assist insurance verification associates when needed

  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times

  • Other duties as assigned


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • High school diploma or GED required

  • 6 months to 1 year of customer service, appointment scheduling, or healthcare experience required

  • 6 months to 1 year of EHR system experience (EPIC preferred)

  • 6 months to 1 year of remote work experience preferred, especially in high-volume inbound and outbound call environments

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills

  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and other computer systems

  • Strong customer service mindset with compassion and professionalism

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
