Job summary

Maimonides Medical Center in New York is seeking a Clinical Risk Manager to lead risk reduction and patient safety initiatives. You will partner across clinical departments to strengthen compliance with regulatory standards and to investigate areas of potential risk.

The role offers collaboration with the Risk/Safety Data Analyst, with opportunities to contribute to QI projects and staff training, aligning with hospital-wide safety and Just Culture goals.

Qualifications

• Current New York State license as an MD, RN, or PA.
• Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of clinical experience (high-risk or acute care preferred), or graduation from an accredited nursing program with a current NYS RN license plus 5 years of clinical experience.
• 3-5 years of Risk Management experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and computer skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with outside regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

• Implement and enhance the hospital's coordinated Risk Management Program
• Ensure compliance with NYSDOH incident reporting (NYPORTS) and with Joint Commission, NYSDOH, NYCDOH, and FDA standards
• Review occurrence reports and cases referred by departments and practitioners for reportability and liability issues
• Assist with patient complaints and grievances in partnership with the Patient Representative
• Work with the Risk/Safety Data Analyst to build reports for QI projects
• Participate in QI and Peer Review activities and meetings
• Help keep the hospital survey-ready for unannounced regulatory visits
• Develop and deliver Risk Management training for staff at all levels
• Support Patient Safety and Just Culture initiatives
