Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Nurse Leader to serve as Patient Safety Manager, directing the facility's patient safety program and leading RCA investigations across units. You will train staff on safety principles and guide data-driven improvements to policies and practices to protect patients.

Qualifications

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license in a U.S. state or District of Columbia.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by accrediting agency and licensed to practice in the U.S.
  • English proficiency required for direct patient care per 38 U.S.C. 7403(f).
  • Foreign nursing education requires degree equivalency validation when applicable.
  • State licensure is required and may include temporary appointment during bridge program completion.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and coordinates the facility's patient safety program and implements national safety policies.
  • Directly supports patient safety processes at the facility level.
  • Leads Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities and translates findings into corrective actions.
  • Trains clinicians and staff across the facility on patient safety principles and RCA methodology.
  • Collaborates with infection control, risk management, and quality management to strengthen safety culture.
