Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a dedicated Public Safety officer to guard patients, staff, and visitors on hospital grounds and facilities. The role includes patrols, incident reporting, and collaboration with local authorities to maintain a secure environment.

Candidates should have a minimum of three years in public safety, a high school diploma, and be prepared to complete mandatory training including hospital orientation and annual certifications.

Qualifications

• Three years related experience and/or training in public safety.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Obtain and satisfactorily complete the initial 8 hour Hospital Orientation Program and Annual Competency Reviews and any other training as mandated.

Responsibilities

• Provide security for the safety and protection of Hospital patients, staff, general public, and properties.
• Periodically patrols buildings and grounds of Hospital.
• Examines doors, windows, and other points of entry to determine that they are secure.
• Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and other acts of suspicious instances.
• Assists local authorities with investigation of incidents on Hospital properties.
• Adheres to all general orders and special orders as directed.
