Overview

To provide additional assistance in monitoring patients for various safety risks and the prevention of harm.

Qualifications

• Certifications: Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training within 3 months - Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Education: H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
• Work Experience: [Specify if needed]

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient's safety by providing a safe environment
• Directly observe identified patient(s) at all times during assigned shift
• Provide activities as necessary for patient entertainment and treatment purposes
• Remove items from patient room/surroundings that are potentially dangerous
• Implement patient safety protocols including but not limited to elopement risk, suicide risk, self-harm potential, fall risk, and risk of aggression
• Maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality
• Assist patient with routine activities and meal selection (as appropriate)
• Assist with tray setup if no restrictions
• Answer patient phone or assist patient in making calls
• Notify nursing staff to assist patient with clinical activities
• Coordinate care with appropriate hospital personnel
• Consult with Lead RN or assigned RN, Security, and other staff as needed
• Report intake and output to assigned RN
• Report observations about patient and patient's behavior to assigned RN
• Report changes in patient behavior to nursing staff in a timely manner
• Document implementation of safety protocols and proof of observation on flow sheets

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $15 per hour - $24.32 per hour. The actual offer will depend on experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and the compensation model.
