Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Patient Companion / Patient Care Technician who will provide continuous one-to-one observation and direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous healthcare or patient-care experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provides continuous one-to-one observation of assigned patients to ensure safety at all times.
• Obtains and records vital signs, height, weight, intake and output as assigned.
• Assists with activities of daily living and mobility under supervision.
• Documents observations and communicates patient status to the RN promptly.
• Maintains patient charts and supports unit operations as assigned.
