Job summary

MUHA seeks a Patient Companion / PCT to provide continuous one-to-one observation and safe patient care in a PRN role. You will assist with ADLs, document observations, and support unit operations under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include patient safety monitoring, basic clinical tasks within scope, and clerical duties as needed. Requires BLS and prior healthcare exposure; schedule varies with department needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience as Patient Care Technician, Nursing Assistant or related role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides continuous one-to-one observation of assigned patients to ensure safety at all times.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including toileting, feeding, ambulation, and repositioning as directed.
• Documents observations and communicates with nursing staff regarding patient status and concerns.
• Performs unit secretary duties: charting, phone calls, and scheduling as needed.
• Cross-trains and supports multiple roles based on department needs.
