Job summary

Heluna Health in Hilo, HI is seeking a Patient Safety Attendant (Nurse Aide) for a full-time temporary role within the acute care hospital. Under supervision of an RN, you will provide continuous observation and non-clinical support to high-risk patients to help prevent falls, wandering, or self-harm.

Duties include maintaining constant observation, engaging patients with calm activities, documenting care logs, and assisting with non-clinical tasks.

Qualifications

• Must pass a background check.
• Drug testing is required.
• Medical clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant visual contact with the patient to ensure safety and prevent injury.
• Prompt nursing staff if patient attempts to leave bed or exhibits escalating behavior.
• Provide therapeutic engagement to reduce agitation and support delirium/dementia care.
• Maintain logs documenting patient activity and behavior at regular intervals.
• Ensure the patient's environment is free of hazards and report safety concerns.
• Assist with non-clinical tasks and positioning within scope.
