Job summary

Catholic Health is hiring a Patient Billing Specialist to support accurate registration, insurance verification, and billing for outpatient and inpatient services on Long Island.

You will work with EPIC and MyChart systems, assisting with referrals, pre-certifications, and patient inquiries in a busy healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Must have some physician billing experience
• Experience in a medical practice is preferred

Responsibilities

• Register patient demographics including insurance information, insurance verification, and email addresses for MyChart.
• Interpret third party coverage for patients
• Handle patient referrals and pre-certification/authorization for outpatient tests and/or inpatient procedures
• Communicate with other staff for insurance requirements
• EPIC deposit tool: reconcile daily copayments and cash deposits
• Serve as a billing resource for staff
• Handle patient billing inquiries
• Collect patient copayments
• Charge Entry
• Support Front Desk with Checking Patients In/Out and answering phones as needed

Requirements:

• Accurately register patient demographics to include insurance information, insurance verification, and email addresses for MyChart
• Ability to interpret third party coverage to patients
• Responsible for patient referrals and pre-certification/authorization for outpatient tests and/or inpatient procedures
• Communicate with other ancillary staff for proper insurance requirements
• EPIC deposit tool: reconcile daily copayments and complete weekly cash deposit
• Serve as a resource for staff including all aspects of billing
• Handle patient billing inquiries
• Collect patient copayments
• Charge Entry
• Support Front Desk with Checking Patients In/Out and Answering Phones as needed
• May be assigned additional duties as needed

Salary Range

USD $24.00 - USD $30.00 /Hr.
