Job Description

Enables patients to secure access to care at PIH Health facilities by performing all tasks related to registration and pre-registration of outpatient and inpatient accounts. Calculates and secures patient liability, including copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles in an efficient, accurate, and hospitable manner to ensure that the patient, physician, and hospital’s needs are met.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with staff, patients, guarantors, insurance companies, and physicians.
  • Attention to detail; proficient in English speaking, spelling, reading, and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and follow policies and supervisor instructions.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and navigating multiple screens efficiently.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in medical office, hospital, or medical billing preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology strongly preferred.
  • Insurance knowledge required.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strict adherence to all HIPAA laws.
  • Typing speed of 45+ WPM required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent customer service and phone skills, with a background in the medical industry.
  • Willingness to travel to off-site outpatient locations.
Required Experience
  • At least one year of experience in a high-volume healthcare facility or medical office setting with strong computer and customer service skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; continuing education preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing strongly preferred.
  • Driver’s license required for travel to off-site locations.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish or Chinese (Mandarin) preferred.
