Job summary

University Health System is seeking a front-line admissions/billing clerk to collect patient demographics and insurance data across UH locations. You will explain service charges to privately paying patients and help arrange payments, while collecting copays, coinsurance and admission forms as required by insurers.

The role prefers prior hospital billing experience and basic billing knowledge; high school diploma required with 6 months hospital exposure helpful.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months hospital/physician setting experience preferred.
• Billing experience and contract knowledge preferred.
• ICD-9 coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients to obtain demographics and insurance information for admissions.
• Communicates with privately paying patients about service charges.
• Assists patients with payment arrangements and collects copays and coinsurance.
• Collects admission forms as required by Medicare, Medicaid or insurers.
