Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health seeks a patient safety and observation support role under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will monitor patients, perform safety checks, and document behavior while traveling with patients as needed.

Preferred candidates include those with hospital experience, Nursing Assistant training, or EMT background, and a current BLS certification. Strong adherence to safety protocols and teamwork is essential.

To provide a safe environment for patients who are on One to One Supervision for Suicide Precautions, Behavioral Restraints, Line of Sight or Patient Safety. Training will be provided as part of new hire orientation.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• Responsible for the safety of the Patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Must be able to work in situations with isolation precautions.
• Provide frequent checks on patients that have a Patient Watch Order.
• Provide direction to patient to ensure that they do not fall or wander off.
• Record and Document patient behavior.
• Must be able to travel with patient when needed
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned
• Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred

• Previous work experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Experience as a Patient Care Technician, Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT, Nurse Aide Training, or current Nursing/Psychology student are all preferred.

Licenses and Certifications Required

• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required prior to performing patient observation.

Minimum rate of $17.42 Hourly
