Hackensack Meridian Health in Holmdel, NJ seeks a Patient Care Technician to support patient safety under RN supervision. You will monitor patients under various precautions, assist with mobility, and respond quickly to changes in condition.

A High School diploma or GED is required, with BLS certification preferred. Training is provided during orientation, and prior hospital experience is welcomed but not required. Availability for flexible shifts may apply.

Responsibilities

• To provide a safe environment for patients who are on One to One Supervision for Suicide Precautions, Behavioral Restraints, Line of Sight or Patient Safety. Training will be provided as part of new hire orientation.
• Responsible for the safety of the Patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
• Must be able to work in situations with isolation precautions.
• Provide frequent checks on patients that have a Patient Watch Order.
• Provide direction to patient to ensure that they do not fall or wander off.
• Record and Document patient behavior.
• Must be able to travel with patient when needed
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned
• Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
• The ability to stay mobile according to the patients' movement including the ability to stand for periods of time.
• Must be able to work in situations with isolation precautions.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

• Previous work experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Experience as a Patient Care Technician, Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT, Nurse Aide Training, or current Nursing/Psychology student are all preferred.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required prior to performing patient observation.

Starting Minimum Rate

Minimum rate of $17.42 Hourly
