Job summary

Texas Children's Hospital Float Pool is seeking a Patient Sitter to help safeguard patients at risk of harm under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. The role emphasizes Family Centered Care in a fast-paced hospital setting and is designed to be cost-effective and developmentally appropriate for the patient population.

Sitter will float to EC, Acute Care, and Critical Care. Shifts available Nights 11p-7a (Part Time).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of basic nursing care.
• Ability to respond quickly to requests and interact with people at all levels.
• 1 yr experience in a psychiatric inpatient or outpatient setting (preferred).
• Inpatient hospital experience or enrollment in a nursing education program (preferred).
• BLS - Basic Life Support from American Heart Association (preferred).
• CNA certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Sits with the assigned patient at all times during the shift.
• Assists the RN to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.
• Reports patient condition changes to the RN to assure achievement of desired outcomes.
• Demonstrates willingness to acquire new knowledge and skills.
• Attends mandatory training and meets health and safety requirements.

We are searching for a Patient Sitter Texas Children's Hospital Float Pool - someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting to ensure the safety of patients at risk of harm to self or others, under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Care will be delivered that incorporates Family Centered Care in a cost-effective manner and is developmental and age appropriate for the patient population.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Knowledge of basic nursing care
• Ability to respond quickly to requests and interact with people at all levels
• Preferred Qualifications:
• 1 yr. experience in a psychiatric inpatient or outpatient program, Psychiatric Residential placement programs
• Inpatient hospital experience or enrolled in an accredited Nursing education program
• BLS - Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
• CNA- Certified Nurse Assistant

• Assists in identifying patient response to care provided and reports patient condition to the RN to assure achievement of desired outcomes
• Demonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge, demonstrate new skills needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performance
• Attends mandatory training and development activities and meets institutional and departmental health and safety requirements by established deadlines
• Remains current in unit/hospital information and job expectations and training
