Job Summary

The Patient Navigator will serve as a liaison for the patient, provider, and Akumin. They will assist in scheduling exams, obtaining prior authorizations, burning CDs, printing reports, helping obtain prior patient records for imaging, and following up on outstanding reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensures patient satisfaction by providing excellent service and ensuring ease of appointment scheduling.
• Works with case managers to ensure that reports are available and uploaded in time for patients' follow-up appointments.
• Works with case managers on addendums and serves as direct contact between provider and radiologist.
• Obtains preauthorization and/or predetermination for imaging procedures from insurance companies.
• Provides supporting documentation for all insurance appeals and denials.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
• CPR Certification.
• 1 year in a medical/hospital setting.

Physical Requirements

• Standard office environment, more than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk; repetitive movement of hands, arms, and legs; see, speak, and hear to communicate with patients.
• Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel or crawl; climb and balance; carry and lift 10‑20 lbs.
