Job description

Pay Rate: $30-$34 per hour

Provides psychosocial support services to facilitate patient and family adjustment to illness. Knowledgeable about the psychosocial impact of disease on individuals and families as it relates to their age, stage of development, culture, physical, and psychosocial competence. Capabilities include individual and group counseling, case management, advocacy services, and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Education: Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work.

Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience in oncology preferred. Strong clinical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Mastery of counseling theories and individual, family, and group dynamics. Knowledge of major phases of adult development (young adulthood, middle age, and elderly) and application of appropriate clinical interventions. Knowledge of community health and welfare agencies, and a basic understanding of the types of cancer and treatment interventions. Ability to advocate for patient and family involvement in all aspects of their care.

License/Certification: New York State Licensure to practice Social Work in New York within 6 months of hire. Oncology certification and BLS certification by the American Heart Association preferred.
