Job summary

Healogics is recruiting a Patient Navigator to support a dynamic outpatient wound care center. You will greet patients, handle scheduling, verify insurance, and enter charges while coordinating care with providers and hospital staff.

The role requires strong organization, confidentiality, and multitasking in a fast-paced office. Proficiency with MS Office and excellent communication are essential assets.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong customer, interpersonal and written/spoken communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time-management abilities.
  • Typing speed of 60 words per minute or faster.
  • Basic math skills for charges and accounting tasks.
  • Attention to detail in data entry and charting.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment on multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Center leadership to maximize daily patient census.
  • Greets patients and visitors and routes calls to staff.
  • Manages patient communication: scheduling, rescheduling, reminders.
  • Verifies patient insurance information and pre-authorizations; data entry.
  • Enters and reconciles patient charges in databases; transmits data to providers.
  • Assembles and maintains patient charts with accurate data and signatures.
  • Coordinates scheduling of ancillary testing with hospital departments.
  • Arranges patient transportation and maintains office equipment and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as required.

With an aging society, obesity and diabetes on the rise, and an uptick in surgical procedures, the number of patients with non-healing wounds that would benefit from expert care is dramatically increasing. As a result, the company is working to provide our differentiated, quality outcomes to as many patients that would benefit through our out-patient clinic partnerships.The Patient Navigator manages a variety of front office functions and is key to smooth operation of a dynamic outpatient wound care center as well as performs general office duties to assist the staff of the WCC.All Healogics employees must perform their job responsibilities according to all Healogics policies, Hospital policies, as well as to accrediting organizations, federal and state regulation, and to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, as applicable.Essential Functions/Responsibilities:Coordinates with Center leadership to maximize daily patient census.Actively participates in staff meetings to support key functions within the Center.Greets patients and other visitors, answers and routes calls to appropriate staff.Maintains all patient communication needs including scheduling, rescheduling, and appointment reminders. Also works and schedules for provider, according to the care continuum model.Obtains and verifies patient insurance information, to include pre-certifications and pre-authorizations for services and enters data in appropriate databases.Collects and enters patient charges in databases.Verifies and reconciles charges as directed, prepares monthly patient survey data and appropriate documentation, then transmits to providers.Assembles new patient charts, maintains and files existing patient charts, and spot checks charts for data completeness and signatures.Coordinates/schedules ancillary testing with other hospital departments.Arranges for patient transportation as needed.Maintains office equipment and supplies as needed, and medical supplies as directed.Performs other duties as required.Required Education, Experience and Credentials:High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED); Associate’s degree preferredMinimum of Two (2) or more years office administration experience, preferably in a medical setting; Prior medical coding experience preferredPreferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Good customer, interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writingOrganization and time-management skillsAbility to type 60 words per minute (wpm)Basic math skillsAttention to detailsAbility to maintain confidentialityAbility to work in fast paced environment and to work on multiple projects at the same timeAbility to work with others and in a team environmentPhysical Demands:Being in a stationary position for extended periods of time (4 hours or more)Viewing computer screen for extended periods of time (4 hours or more)Keying frequently on a computer for 4 hours or moreReadingCommunicatingDetecting sounds by earClose, distance and peripheral visionLifting/moving items up to 75 pounds with equipment assistanceRepetitive motionsBending/stoopingWritingWork Environment:Patient care environmentThe hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $17.81-$21.90 Per HourThis range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications: education, experience, geography as well as operational needs and other considerations permitted by law.If you are a current employee, to submit a job application, you need to apply as an internal candidate in Workday via the “Jobs Hub”.
