Job summary

Corewell Health’s Nutrition Services team is hiring a part-time patient meal assistant at Troy Hospital. You will support meal service, answer call center lines, assemble patient trays, and help with dishwashing and stocking, with full training provided.

No prior experience required; you will learn all aspects of meal delivery, sanitation, and food safety while contributing to a positive patient experience in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak and communicate effectively in English.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Food service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient meal service including accurate portioning and presentation of menu items, set up of tray assembly station, and tray assembly.
• Transport tray carts and deliver trays to patients; collect soiled trays and return to kitchen; stock, distribute and/or collect patient menus.
• Perform call center duties including answering multiple line phones and inputting patient selections while ensuring dietary restrictions and special needs are honored.
• Obtain and document patient food and beverage selections, intake and other preferences as directed.
• Wash and sanitize dishes; operate dish machine; proper storage of clean service ware and equipment.
• Maintain work area including requisitioning, receiving, rotating and putting away stock while meeting safety and sanitation standards.
• Transportation of food carts within the department and to patient care areas as assigned.
• Work independently and as part of the team to meet productivity and service standards.
• Identify opportunities for waste reduction and service improvements to leadership per guidelines.
• Meet productivity, regulatory compliance, and service standards for the assigned area.
