Island Health is seeking a part-time Nutrition Assistant to support the Dietary team in a hospital setting. You will assist with room service orders, patient menus, and tray preparation while ensuring quality and safety standards.

The role involves interactions with patients and staff, maintaining accurate records and contributing to performance improvement initiatives. A GED or HS diploma and a Food and Beverage Worker's Permit are required.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Current Food and Beverage Worker's Permit required.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in institutional food service preferred.
• Ability to work closely with other employees under changing conditions.
• Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development across lifespan.

Responsabilités

• Answers patient room-service calls with professional telephone etiquette.
• Processes diet orders and writes patient menus based on diet orders.
• Tallies and records department statistics accurately.
• Interacts positively with administration, staff, patients, and visitors.
• Prepares and serves cold foods and beverages on patient trays.
• Prepares patient nourishments and sets up trays for service.
• Delivers special food orders and ensures patient satisfaction.
• Monitors temperatures of refrigerators and freezers.
• Completes prep work to ensure an efficient tray line.
