Job summary

The Amarillo VA Health Care System seeks a Food Service Worker to join its Nutrition & Food Service team in Amarillo, Texas. You will help prepare and portion meals, set up dining areas, and deliver trays to patients in accordance with dietary plans.

The role involves operating kitchen equipment, assisting cooks, following menus and diet cards, and performing routine cleaning. Shifts include early mornings and various blocks across five days a week.

Qualifications

• Evidence of training or experience demonstrating ability to perform duties.
• Measured by detailed resume descriptions and qualification standards.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and breaks down assigned station with the correct supplies and food items.
• Portions food items into standard serving sizes using proper utensils and dishware.
• Delivers meal trays to patients' bedsides.
• Reports patients' comments and complaints to supervisor or dietitian.
• Assists cooks in food preparation and assembles ingredients according to recipes.
• Prepares fresh fruit, salads, dressings, and simple cold desserts.
• Reads and interprets menus and diet cards; performs heavy-duty cleaning in food service areas.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
