Job summary

Christiana Care Health System is seeking a Food Service Associate I to join our Food and Nutrition Services team. You will support patient care by assembling and delivering patient meal trays, maintaining food service operations, and ensuring sanitation and safety standards are met.

Hours include 6:30am-3:00pm, 7:00am-3:30pm, 9:00am-5:30pm, 10:30am-7:00pm and 1:00pm-9:30pm. Starting pay is $17.80/hour with increases after 6 months and 1 year, reflecting our commitment to fair compensation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Candidates currently enrolled in high school may also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assemble patient meal trays accurately and efficiently according to meal tickets and delivery times.
• Utilize proper serving utensils and portion control standards.
• Read, interpret, and assemble trays for regular and modified diets.
• Distinguish between standard and therapeutic food items and recognize dietary modifications and liquid consistency requirements.
• Support safe food handling practices and compliance with prescribed dietary needs.
• Operate and maintain dish machines, pot washing stations, and sanitation equipment.
• Monitor and document dish machine temperatures according to procedures.
• Clean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment and dispose of waste properly.
• Follow departmental sanitation procedures and infection prevention standards.
• Demonstrate core values and provide compassionate service to patients and families.
• Collaborate with Food and Nutrition Services staff and other departments.
