Job summary

Affinity Healthcare in Massachusetts is seeking a dietary service aide to support meal preparation, tray assembly, and patient nourishment. You will follow established procedures to ensure safe food handling and sanitation while delivering meals across nursing units.

The role requires reading and writing English, basic education, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced hospital environment. Training and in-service education are provided.

Qualifications

• Tenth grade or above desirable.
• Proficiency in English is required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates professional conduct and ethics according to Kindred policy and procedure.
• Performs job duties safely as specified in the physical, sensory and mental requirements.
• Must be able to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
• Prepares patient trays according to instructions/order.
• Employs proper food handling techniques whether in preparation of food or setting up or serving trays.
• Cleans, washes and sanitizes dishes, silverware and utensils used to service patients and others.
• Assists in maintaining the general cleanliness of the dishwashing area.
• Cleans work area and equipment as assigned.
• Puts up stock in food storage areas and refrigerators as assigned.
• Delivers food, nourishments and supplies to nursing units, other areas as assigned.
• Performs duties using proper infection control techniques and using protective equipment as needed.
• Performs all duties using proper safety techniques.
• Essential to attend and participate in in-service education opportunities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
