Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an NFS Aide I, Flex to support meal service for patients and staff. Under supervision, you assist in preparation, serving and distribution of meals, work in the dishroom, and help with cleaning duties while upholding safety and sanitation standards.

Shifts start early: 6:00 AM, 6:30 AM, or 12:15 PM with alternating weekends. No formal education required, but clear communication in English is essential; on-the-job training will cover tray assembly, nourishment

Qualifications

• No formal education required but must be able to communicate verbally, to read and write English to understand instructions.
• May have to do basic mathematical computations when working the cash register.
• Job consists of simple functions which can be learned on the job within one month.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, fills, sets up, works and cleans assigned station for tray assembly each meal.
• Dishes out servings according to menu using scoops and ladles.
• Prepares between-meal nourishments and tube feedings following standardized recipes.
• Transports food and late tray carts to designated floors and returns them to the kitchen.
• Delivers patient nourishment orders and department stock to patients or nursing stations.
• Assembles, cooks and serves food in cafeteria and replenishes supplies as necessary.
• Dismantles and cleans patient food carts and dishware; keeps areas clean and sanitized.
• Attends mandatory trainings and maintains a customer-friendly image.
