Qualifications

• 2+ years Healthcare Customer Service, Revenue Cycle or Healthcare Insurance experience.
• Associate's or Vocational degree or higher in relevant fields preferred.
• Experience with clinic/hospital patient accounts, billing, insurance, and charity care programs.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients about health coverage and financial resources.
• Identify eligibility for financial assistance programs and enroll patients when eligible.
• Coordinate materials for patient financial assistance and act as liaison with medical team.

Join a team of 6 other PFNs, educating patients about their health coverage, and securing manufacturer copay assistance, foundation assistance programs, and free drug options to ease the financial burden of cancer treatment upon our patients. This position will be hybrid, with some in person time at St Francis Cancer Center and possibly other AHCI sites.* 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period)* 8-hour day shifts (Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm)* No weekends* Partially remote**Job Description:**Assists patients and/or families with access to a variety of financial resources by evaluating the financial situation of patients in accordance with regulatory compliance while maintaining patient confidentiality and dignity. Determines eligibility for financial assistance or any payer/assistance source, and provides necessary assistance to enroll in available government programs. The Patient Financial Navigator should be knowledgeable about related medical terminology and treatment processes as well as payment alternatives, grants, programs, and any other types of assistance to educate and support patients facing costly treatments and extended medical care. **Principle Responsibilities*** Screens newly diagnosed patients to identify those who may be appropriate for financial navigation services.* Meets with patients to discuss insurance status, benefits coverage as it relates to their expected treatment plan, and the estimated cost of the planned treatment.* Evaluates patient’s qualifications for financial and copay assistance programs.* Coordinates the completion of materials related to patient financial assistance programs. Serves as the liaison between the patient, the medical team, and assistance program(s).* Ensures all demographic, insurance and eligibility information obtained are up-to-date. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
