Job Description

Responsible for providing financial assistance services to patients and family members. Handles inquiries from patients regarding Medicaid eligibility. Assists applicants with paperwork, eligibility requirements, and counseling on Medicaid guidelines. Collects payments from patients and third-party payers to ensure timely recovery of outstanding accounts receivable.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Obtains and documents patient demographic and financial information.
  2. Requests authorization or referrals from insurance companies for at-risk patients to receive care.
  3. Verifies insurance eligibility when applicable. Informs patients of payment options and financial assistance opportunities.
  4. Advocates for patients by negotiating payment arrangements.
  5. Prepares payment estimates based on treatment plans and insurance information such as deductibles and co-pays.
  6. Handles complex issues and problems, referring only the most complex to higher-level staff.
  7. Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring to subordinate staff.
  8. Performs other related duties as assigned.
