Job description

UPMC Altoona is seeking a caring and compassionate individual to join our T14 Surgical Trauma/Oncology unit as a casual Patient & Family Concierge!

The Patient & Family Concierge is responsible for providing compassionate service and support to patients, families, and visitors during their stay within the hospital. The core goal of the Concierge is to create and deliver a top-notch experience for patients, visitors, and colleagues. The Concierge will serve in various capacities across the hospital based on changing needs, including assisting with patient and visitor destination coordination, environmental services, dietary, patient transport, and supply/equipment management. Above all, the Concierge will focus on patient and guest satisfaction and quality of care from first to last impression.

About Tower 14 - Surgical Trauma/Medical Oncology & Palliative Care

Tower 14 front: A fast-paced, 23-bed unit caring for post-surgical adults and low acuity trauma patients, handling a range of abdominal surgeries and general medical cases. It also provides telemetry monitoring for certain patients.

Tower 14 back: An 18-bed medical telemetry unit specializing in oncology and palliative care, including 5 palliative care suites. Nurses are trained to administer chemotherapy and care for patients with various needs, tailoring each care plan individually.

Responsibilities:
  • Destination Coordination: Greet and assist patients and families, provide directions, disseminate information respecting confidentiality, and manage parking and belongings.
  • Environmental Services: Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned areas, replenish supplies, and report maintenance issues.
  • Dietary Services: Assemble and serve meals, ensure food safety, and deliver patient trays and nourishments.
  • Transportation Services: Safely transport patients, equipment, and specimens, perform equipment disinfection, record activities, and report issues.
  • Supply & Equipment Management: Manage supplies and equipment, organize storage, monitor inventories and expiration dates, and restock as needed.
  • General: Answer phones, respond to call lights, interact with patients, ensure safety and infection control, and follow reporting procedures. Adhere to UPMC values and behaviors.
