About the role

Position Summary

The Front Desk Associate is the first point of contact at the medical center. They greet patients, collect information, answer questions, schedule appointments, answer phones, and verify insurance details.

The Front Desk Associate demonstrates professionalism and collaborates with team members to deliver high-quality results.

What you'll do

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and guests
  • Conduct check-in and check-out processes via Electronic Health Record
  • Assist patients with completing required paperwork
  • Secure and maintain patient confidentiality
  • Schedule and triage appointment requests according to protocols
  • Make reminder calls for upcoming appointments
  • Collect co-payments as per health plan requirements
  • Verify insurance prior to appointments
  • Answer and route phone calls appropriately
  • Update electronic health records with current information
  • Consult with medical assistants or clinicians for clinical decisions when necessary
  • Use EHR functionalities to communicate and take messages
  • Monitor reminder call logs and reschedule as needed
  • Scan and index documents into the EHR, ensuring availability of lab results and other documents before visits
  • Participate in interdisciplinary teams related to patient care and outcomes
  • Support office operations and teamwork to ensure excellent service
  • Address patient concerns as they arise
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in office administration, reception, clerical work, or customer service in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Professional demeanor and communication skills

  • Ability to follow through on tasks and be accountable
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in underserved or culturally diverse communities
