Job Summary

Patient Dining Associates work on assigned units in a healthcare facility, providing services such as helping patients make menu selections, assembling, delivering, and picking up meal trays. They are part of the caregiving team, responsible for patient safety and satisfaction by ensuring meals are accurate, timely, and at the correct temperature.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Help patients understand their menu selections and work with nursing to ensure their orders meet nutritional requirements or restrictions.
2. Collaborate with caregivers and culinary team to determine menu alternatives for patients with food allergies, sensitivities, cultural, ethnic, religious preferences, or additional inquiries.
3. Manage tray tickets and assemble meals according to each patient’s menu selection promptly and accurately. Retrieve trays from patient rooms at scheduled times.
4. Comply with regulatory standards, including federal, state, and JCAHO. Adhere to confidentiality and patient rights policies as per HIPAA regulations.
5. Follow HACCP guidelines when handling food, cleaning work stations, and breaking down patient tray lines.
6. Follow facility and department infection control policies and procedures.
7. Assist dietitians by monitoring patients on specialized diets, such as liquid diets or calorie-controlled diets.
8. Communicate problems or concerns with patients to appropriate personnel promptly, following department procedures.
9. Complete all required reports as outlined in Morrison Healthcare policies and procedures.
10. Comply with health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
