Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network in Hazleton is seeking a per diem Dietary Aide to support patient meal service and ensure nutritional standards are met. You will assist in menu selections, service, and delivery of meals, while following established policies and procedures.

You will collaborate with Registered Dietitians to anticipate patient needs, maintain sanitation, and provide friendly, professional patient interactions. Positions are on-site with day shift and per diem scheduling.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in the Food Service Industry.
• Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing, and documentation.
• Ability to interpret and adhere to union policies and procedures.
• Ability to read and understand instructions and diet order cards.
• Coordination and dexterity for preparing food and operating dietary equipment safely.
• Knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, principles of sanitation, and principles of safe food handling.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparation of supplies and setting up of tray-line area prior to each meal.
• Delivers food promptly and professionally maintains safe food handling and sanitation standards.
• Engage with patients in a friendly and professional manner while actively listening to their concerns and following meal patterns.
• Keeps work area clean and orderly.
• Knowledgeable about the food and drinks served and can handle various dietary requirements.
• Participates in quality assurance, mealtime assessment, and environmental assessment.
