Foundation Health is seeking a full-time Patient Scheduling Clerk at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital in Alaska to coordinate scheduling of treatments and diagnostic procedures, perform pre-registration, verify insurance, and obtain preauthorizations. You will enter patient data, maintain records, produce statistics, and support the department.

Strong organizational and communication skills, plus comfort with office software and scheduling systems, are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Typically 2 years medical clerical experience preferred in hospital central scheduling or physician office scheduling.
• Medical terminology is required.
• Excellent organizational, human relations and communication skills.
• Proficient with office software and computers and ability to use scheduling systems.
• Ability to maintain accurate statistical records, gather data and produce reports.
• Preferred: additional related education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Receives physician orders and verifies insurance; obtains preauthorizations and per-certifications.
• Answers scheduling-related telephone inquiries and clarifies as needed.
• Schedules patients for treatments or diagnostics using scheduling systems; resolves conflicts.
• Enters patient data, maintains records, and prepares charts; manages files per regulatory requirements.
• Compiles and reports statistical data for the department.
