Job summary

Akumin is seeking a Patient Coordinator for our mobile radiology units around the Seattle area. This PRN role focuses on delivering excellent patient care, assisting with registration, coordinating appointments, and guiding patients through pre- and post-procedure steps.

You will greet patients, verify insurance, collect payments when applicable, and support the clinical team with documentation while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR certification must be obtained prior to hire for mobile radiology/oncology.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Registers patients in various systems and schedules appointments.
• Answers phone calls professionally and courteously.
• Collects payments for time-of-service when applicable.
• Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorization when needed.
• May transport patients to/from exam rooms and assist in transfers.
• Maintains accurate patient records and documents visits in electronic systems.

We are currently hiring for a Patient Coordinator at our mobile units around the Seattle area. This will be a PRN position.

The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. Ensures documentation and patient records are prepared and organized. Ensures patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Will perform patient registration in various systems.
• Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• May be responsible for verifying insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.

Patient Assistance:

• May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, which may include medical history.
• May transport patient to/from the exam room.
• May assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
• May transport patient to/from the exam room.
• May provide the patient with preliminary and post-procedure instructions.

Work Area & Supply Preparation

• In the mobile setting, may assist in preparing the unit for transport.
• Will maintain a clean and organized work area.
• May order supplies and ensure the work area is properly stocked.

Documentation

• Will ensure accuracy of patient records.
• May schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification and/or authorization.
• May prepare medical records for physicians, patients and customers.
• Ensures accurate documentation of patient visits in various electronic
• systems and on written documents.
• May assist the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to the patient, physician, or contracted customer.
• Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
• For Mobile Radiology and Oncology, CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire.
• For Fixed Radiology, CPR Certification is a plus.
• As applicable, valid state driver's license required.
• Ability to work at several locations required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
• Local travel may be required to support multiple sites.
• The COVID-19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment.
• All candidates who accept an offer for employment will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen as a condition of employment.

Preferred

• Six months customer service or related experience and/or training.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Eligibility for benefits will vary based on role type and hours worked.

The estimated hourly pay range for this role in Washington is $18-22. Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, location, and other factors such as internal equity and budget.
