Job summary

Akumin is hiring a part-time Patient Coordinator for the mobile unit in Wenatchee, WA. The role focuses on patient registration, appointment coordination, insurance verification, and delivering excellent patient service in a mobile radiology/oncology setting.

The position requires strong customer service, organization, and ability to work across multiple sites. CPR certification, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel locally are preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • CPR Certification is required prior to hire for Mobile Radiology.
  • Valid state driver's license may be required.
  • Able to work at multiple locations.
  • COVID-19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
  • Register patients in various systems and verify insurance.
  • Answer calls professionally and courteously.
  • Collect payments for time-of-service when applicable.
  • Prepare and maintain patient records and documentation.
  • Explain procedures and post-procedure instructions to patients.
  • Maintain clean, organized work area and transport patients as needed.
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance in documentation and communications.

We are currently hiring for aPatient Coordinator at ourmobile unit in Wenatchee, WA. This will beapart time position.

The Patient Coordinator isresponsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. Ensures documentation and patient records are prepared and organized. Ensures patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
  • Will perform patient registration in various systems.
  • Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
  • May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
  • May be responsible for verifying insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
Patient Assistance:
  • May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, which may include medical history.
  • May transport patient to/from the exam room.
  • May assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
  • May transport patient to/from the exam room.
  • May provide the patient with preliminary and post-procedure instructions.
Work Area & Supply Preparation
  • In the mobile setting, may assist in preparing the unit for transport.
  • Will maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • May order supplies and ensure the work area is properly stocked.
Documentation
  • Will ensure accuracy of patient records.
  • May schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification and/or authorization.
  • May prepare medical records for physicians, patients and customers.
  • Ensures accurate documentation of patient visits in various electronic
  • systems and on written documents.
  • May assist the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to the patient, physician, or contracted customer.
  • Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • For Mobile Radiology and Oncology, CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire.
  • For Fixed Radiology, CPR Certification is a plus.
  • As applicable, valid state driver's license required.
  • Ability to work at several locations required.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
  • Local travel may be required to support multiple sites.
  • The COVID-19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment.
  • All candidates who accept an offer for employment will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen as a condition of employment.
Preferred
  • Six months customer service or related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Eligibility for benefits will vary based onrole typeand hours worked.

The estimated hourly pay range for this role in Washington is $18-22.Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, location, and other factors such as internal equity and budget.
